Football Journeys

Welcome to Football Journeys, AAL Schools’ newest member!
Football Journeys have created an amazing course that combines the love of football with an awesome creative aspect, attached to an accreditation; a totally unique experience for the young people they work with across a range of schools.

Learners will achieve a course certificate for Level 1 Active Citizens, which is underpinned by the OCN London Level 1 Award in Progression.  Learners will cover themes including peer support and active citizenship. Football Journeys will be making a difference to 125 learners from 8 schools, facilitated by 6 coaches, both new and experienced.

As part of their AAL journey, Football Journeys expressed a desire for an in-person training session on assessment.  They aim to make the accreditation as seamless as possible, and we were more than happy to accommodate. The training took place in the vibrant City of London at a fantastic venue with a great atmosphere, and a constant flow of tea and coffee.

A dynamic group of individuals attended the session, from the Coaches, who will be delivering the course, to the Programme Manager and Company Director. All displayed keen enthusiasm to kick off their accredited course.  We delved into discussions on various assessment types, methods, and tools crucial for guiding learners through their qualification. Our exploration extended to examining diverse forms of evidence coaches could gather, as well as considering reasonable adjustments and special considerations, if necessary. We built their confidence in terms of making assessment decisions, the remit of Internal Quality Assurance, and the best ways to provide feedback to different learners. The team asked amazing questions, really embedding the assessment knowledge, and ensuring that they were all on track to provide excellent delivery of their course to the learners.

As the session concluded, the team was energised, felt prepared, and ready to embark on delivering their exceptional course to learners in schools across London. As part of the completion of the course, all attendees received AAL CPD certificates to add to their portfolios.

Football Journeys provided fantastic feedback, and I eagerly anticipate witnessing the remarkable work as it starts to unfold.
